KINGLIN
Situated in the center of Athens, under the Acropolis and literally only a few steps away from the new Acropolis Museum, Kinglin is one of the exceptional arrivals of high end apartments to be found in the Greek capital. The property consists of 5 independent apartments organised in 3 different floors.
Taking into account its truly special location, references to the perception of beauty and form – famously encapsulated in the culture of ancient Greece, were considered by Studio Bonarchi as the main protagonists for this project from the very beginning.
The building, a typical example of Athenean neo classical arcitecture characterised by the simplicity of geometric forms, used to house a family of diplomats in the courtyard of the Royal family in the beginning of the 20th century. The doric detailing of the façade was carefully preserved and its presence mirrored in the totally re-constructed interiors.
Surfaces of marbles in a variety of hues and paterns were meticuslously selected so as to create a dialogue with the glorified volumes of marble gleaming from the Acropolis. Similarly, a colour palette consisting of cream, beige, terracotta and dark brown tones derived from Kinglin’s treasured neighbours – the statues and ceramics on display at the museum next door. A selection of custom furniture, Belgian linen sofas and Scandinavian pieces together with the iconic Italian Via bizzuno lights in brass gold consist a “scenery” of timeless elegance through a contemporary prism. The philosophy of the project’s study has been conceived in such a way by Vangelis Bonios and his team so as to make the Athenian light stand out as a true element of essence when passing through the white lacquered windows and the olive coloured traditional shutters.
